Top 5 sites for stock images

August 29, 2017

Ever building a website which requires really good imagery? I think we’ve all been in that situation. However During my time as a front end developer, i’ve come across quite a few decent sites which will provide you with the images you’re looking for.

5. Freepik

Freepik is a brilliant resource if you’re looking for custom vector images or patterns. Although I don’t use this site as often as I used to. I always find myself coming back to it every now and then whenever I require some illustrator files.

4. Flickr

The reason I’ve added Flickr to my list is that you do not get that large quantity of stock images however if you would like some commercially available images which have that touch of realism to them. I would mainly come to flickr to find just that, this site is mainly images that are uploaded by professional photographers, so you are guaranteed to find that lucky image that you’ve been after.

3. Freestock

Freestock is a site which allows you to quickly find stock images depending on your subject, want images on health? Search away! The Quality of images on this site have been brilliant for a free service, I always find myself coming back to this site every now and then for images related to the service i’m developing for.

2. Pexels

Pexels has hit the high spot on my list because this is one of my main sites, the UI for this site is incredible when looking for images. Like Freestock it also comes with a selection of images for the area you’re developing for. If you’re also after high-quality background images for your site, pexels is great for this. However, it would not be my number one recommendation if you’re after the high-quality scenic images.

1. Unsplash

If you’re familiar with stock image websites, you probably would’ve guessed this to be number one. Unspalsh is my number one go to site for the reason that it can provide amazing stock images completley free. Usually you don’t have to look far when visiting this site as all the trending images are already infront of you, with a fully flexible search system. You’ll be usually leaving with a satisfactory image within seconds.
